Trap Cycle 01

This vessel made entirely of locally sourced and processed second life ceramic materials explores themes of material extraction, mining, and value perception, inspired by my rock collecting obsession in childhood and my concern for our ecosystems. It aims to provoke contemplation on material reuse and the common human pursuit for ‘treasure’.

A mid-fire vessel made with coiled and thrown recycled clay blended with 20% crushed failed ceramics, glazed with sink trap ‘waste’ from a community glaze mixing room and single fired with rocks made of sink trap ‘waste’. Work resulting from extensive material research and development using by-products and waste streams from local ceramic studios.
